VK is an all new synthetic reed made of a composite material specially developed by Vandoren.
This patented composite material reproduces the essential physical characteristics of the reed to obtain the same acoustic behavior, while providing significatly more consistancy, durability, and stability over cane reeds. The new composite material is also 100% recyclable.
There are six Vandoren VK strengths available. All strengths fall between 2.5-3.5 traditional reed strength. The numbering system ranges from 35 to 60 in increments of 5. A 35 is roughly equivalent to a firm 2.5, and a 60 is a medium 3.5.
